- Tampa traditionally adds Genoa salami
- It is often toasted, slightly flattened, and served warm
- An authentic Cuban sandwich does NOT have mayonnaise or lettuce
- Designated “Signature Sandwich of the city of Tampa” by Tampa’s city councilMany historians believe the Cuban sandwich as now constituted first appeared in Tampa in the 1880s!
- Interesting reading, google “Cuban Sandwich Crisis”
